Summary

Drowning belongs to most frequent causes of the death associated with accidents. The target of a retrospective study implemented in the Czech Republic in 2001 to 2004 was to assess causes of fatal and nearly fatal cases of drowning in the Czech Republic population and to propose provisions aimed at prevention of these accidents based on this knowledge.

Souhrn

Tonutí a utonutí se řadí mezi nejčastější příčiny úmrtí v souvislosti s úrazem. Cílem retrospektivní studie v České republice v letech 2001–2004 bylo zhodnocení příčin utonutí a téměř utonutí u populace v České republice a na podkladě těchto znalostí navrhnout opatření směřující k prevenci těchto úrazů.
