ETHICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS IN RESEARCH OF VIOLENCE WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO PROBLEMS OF INVESTIGATING TRAFFIC IN HUMANS

Summary

Traffic in humans, rape, home violence, torture or other forms of violence causing traumatic experience exert mental, social, physical and economic impacts on lives of humans who experienced them or were present as witnesses. People with traumatic experience are frequently clients of social services: either of those specialized in this problem or of further ones offering help for wide target groups. Different aspects of traumatic experience with violence are also important subjects of the research not only in terms of psychology but also in the field of social work, social services, criminality prevention, public and social policy in general and further branches.

However, research with participation of persons who experienced a trauma, should not cause any further traumatic effects or expose the person participating in the research to any endangerment or violence. The target of the text is to identify principal ethical questions and pillars in the methodology of the research of persons who experienced trauma with a special regard to persons who were traded, i.e. forced to work under slavery conditions in prostitution or other sectors. The professional literature in this field still occurs rather sparingly.

The text presented here is based on the analysis of methodological considerations of already published investigations, which employed as their tools interviews with persons traded and publications offering ethical guidelines for the research or accumulation of data from this target group. It is also based on scientific publications aimed at the gender-sensitive research and research of the gender-conditioned violence. In the text, specific features are detailed, which are appropriate for acquiring the informed consent and providing the safety not only of persons participating in the research but also of investigators. Methods of conducting so called non-injuring research and problems of handling data are also considered. The text can serve as a methodological or study basis for the implementation of research works in this field.

Souhrn

Obchod s lidmi, znásilnění, domácí násilí, mučení či jiné formy násilí způsobující traumatickou zkušenost mají psychické, sociální, fyzické i ekonomické dopady na životy lidí, kteří je prožili či byli jejich svědky. Lidé s traumatickou zkušeností jsou často mezi klientelou sociálních služeb, ať již těch, které se na danou problematiku specializují, či dalších, které nabízejí pomoc širokým cílovým skupinám. Rozličné aspekty traumatických zkušeností s násilím jsou rovněž důležitým předmětem výzkumu nejen z hlediska psychologického, ale také pro oblast sociální práce, sociálních služeb, prevence kriminality, veřejné a sociální politiky obecně i dalších odvětví.

Výzkum, kterého se účastní osoby, jež prožily trauma, by však neměl způsobit jakoukoli další traumatizaci či vystavit člověka, který se výzkumu účastní, jakémukoli ohrožení či násilí. Text si klade za cíl identifikovat základní etické otázky a pilíře v metodologii výzkumu osob, které prožily traumatickou zkušenost, se zaměřením na osoby, které byly obchodované, tedy nucené k práci za otrockých podmínek v prostituci či v jiných sektorech. Odborná literatura v této oblasti je doposud spíše kusá.

Předkládaný text vychází z analýzy metodologických rozvah již publikovaných výzkumů, které využívaly jako nástroj vedení rozhovoru s obchodovanými osobami a z publikací nabízejících etické „guidelines“ pro výzkum či získávání informací od této cílové skupiny. Vychází i z odborných publikací, které se věnují genderově senzitivnímu výzkumu, a výzkumu genderově podmíněného násilí. V textu jsou podrobně rozebrána specifika pro získávání informovaného souhlasu, zajištění bezpečnosti nejen osob, které se výzkumu účastní, ale i výzkumníků a výzkumnic způsoby, jak vést tzv. nezraňující výzkum, a problematika nakládání s daty. Text může sloužit jako metodologická i studijní opora pro realizaci výzkumů v této oblasti.
