SAFE COMMUNITY KROMĚŘÍŽ – RESULTS AND SEVEN-YEAR EXPERIENCE

Summary

Since 2000, the city of Kroměříž has implemented the project of the World Health Organisation “Safe Community”, the purpose and target of this project being a reduction in the rate and severity of injuries within the Kroměříž population. We intend to reduce the rate of injuries till 2015 by 30% compared to 2001 (from the initiation of the data accumulation). Due to the fact that we adhered to all the criteria established by the WHO as soon as in 2003, the city was included into the international network of Safe Communities as the first one in the Central and East Europe. We have a long-term plan including a number of activities. Besides others, campaigns are being implemented here, which are being stepwise extended to further cities and villages. The project includes the programme Safe School, which is being implemented at four primary schools in Kroměříž, and two of them have already been included into the international network of Safe Schools. Statistical data about the rate of injuries acquired from health facilities in the city indicate unambiguously positive effects of the project.

Souhrn

Město Kroměříž od r. 2000 realizuje projekt Světové zdravotnické organizace Bezpečná komunita, jehož smyslem a cílem je snížit počet a závažnost úrazů kroměřížské populace. Do r. 2015 chceme snížit úrazovost o 30 % oproti r. 2001 (zahájení sběru dat). Díky tomu, že jsme splnili všechna kritéria stanovená WHO, bylo již v r. 2003 město přijato do mezinárodní sítě Bezpečných komunit, jako první ve střední a východní Evropě. Máme vypracovaný dlouhodobý plán, který zahrnuje celou řadu aktivit. Mimo to jsou zde realizovány kampaně, které se posléze rozšiřují do dalších měst a obcí. Součástí projektu je program Bezpečná škola, který je realizován na 4 základních školách v Kroměříži, 2 z nich již byly zařazeny do mezinárodní sítě Bezpečných škol. Statistická data o úrazovosti získávaná ze zdravotnických zařízení ve městě ukazují jednoznačně pozitivní efekt projektu.
